“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

As a pastor for 45 years, I have heard almost every excuse possible for someone not coming to Christ. It ranges from the typical excuses to the outlandish. One that I hear more often is, “I’m an intellectual and I need absolute proof before I can go any further in the Christian faith.” Recently I read an article that both intrigued and encouraged me. If that is you or someone you know, consider the following.  The title of the article was:

World’s Smartest Man Professes Christian Faith On Social Media

On June 17, South Korean scientist YoungHoon Kim, who claims he has an IQ of 276, the highest IQ ever recorded, posted on X: “As the world’s highest IQ record holder, I believe that Jesus Christ is God, the way and the truth and the life.”

Kim’s claim to being the world’s highest IQ record holder has been verified by organizations such as the Giga Society, Mensa, World Memory Championships, World Memory Sports Council (in partnership with Guinness World Records), and Official World Record.

Kim, responding to the tremendous popularity of his original post, said in another X post on June 19 that he “will use this opportunity to lead many souls to God.”

“Amen. Christ is my logic,” Kim, 36, said in another response to a commenter on X.

For those who are holding out for God to prove Himself first, I would encourage you to consider carefully what the world’s smartest man is saying. God has proven Himself in multiple ways, but have you proven He is not? The answer is “No.” But for those who claim intellectual honesty as their answer to why they are not a Christian, they should consider what the “World’s Smartest Man” is saying about Jesus.

As Paul says in Ephesians 2:8, the final last step toward becoming a Christian is not logic, it is faith.
